The government of the UK has announced additional funding to assist businesses in cleaning up industrial processes and improving energy efficiency.

More than £12 million in government funding will be distributed to businesses across the UK to assist energy-intensive industries in reducing carbon emissions and energy costs. The funding for 22 winning projects will assist businesses in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland to clean up their industrial processes and improve their energy efficiency, benefiting the pharmaceutical, steel, paper, and food and drink industries.

This funding of £12.4 million was awarded as part of the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund, which has awarded grants in the past to British projects across the country to help increase the energy efficiency of their industrial processes. Including automobile production, steel production, and food production.

The winning bids include harvesting food sustainably in Carmarthenshire, Wales, using a new air source heat pump system, capturing waste heat to dry, heat, crush, and grind materials for road making in South Yorkshire, and using innovative high-temperature heat pumps to reduce the energy required to heat and excellent cheese, thereby reducing emissions in dairy farms in the Midlands.
