HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) on its X (former Twitter) feed acknowledges that it is aware of a ‘scam’ letter delivered by post that is asking customers to “verify” their “financial information” via email. 

The letter looks genuine and requests pertinent financial information be emailed to the email address listed on the letter. 

Do not be fooled in sending the requested information because HMRC will never ask you to divulge your financial information via email.

Taking the time to query a letter requesting your financial information will save you a lot of heartache should you fall foul of the scam.
