Green Energy Grants

The Green homes grant scheme has now ended. You may find an alternative funding source by accessing various grants and schemes made available by the government or other awarding bodies within our grants section.

You can still use a voucher to complete the task if you have been given a voucher. The Green Homes Grant scheme will stop accepting new applications at 5 p.m. on March 31, 2021. The program was extended by one year till March 31, 2022. The green energy grants have expired. There exist additional government-funded programmes. Other government home improvement grants are available.

The primary grants available in the UK are listed below in place of the green energy government grants:

• Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) – Make sure to distinguish the domestic RHI from the non-domestic RHI. The design itself is identical, but the scheme’s duration varies greatly. They both compensate you for producing kWh-measured heat units (kilowatt hours). The amount of your payment is determined by your home’s heating needs. The purpose of the RHI is to provide a payment schedule designed to cover the cost of building and operating a renewable heating system throughout the system’s expected lifetime (20 years).
• Feed-in Tariff (FiT): This program covers power generation from renewable sources like solar photovoltaic panels, wind turbines, etc. You are compensated for creating green electricity, and you have compensated again for any excess electricity you sell back to the grid. In addition, your power cost will decrease as you use the excess energy you generate within your home.
• Certificates of Renewable Obligation for Northern Ireland (NIROCs): As the name suggests, these are used in Northern Ireland and are equivalent to the Feed-in Tariff on the British mainland. Similar to how you are compensated for creating electricity, you are compensated for any excess electricity you sell back to the system. These are the primary green energy grants available throughout the United Kingdom. However, there may be additional in your region. The grants for green energy described above are available to nearly everyone regardless of income.

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) includes the Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) or ‘Affordable Warmth Scheme’. ECO4 is a British government energy efficiency program designed to combat fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions. ECO4 is the newest scheme in place of green grants.

The ECO scheme obliges medium and large gas and electricity suppliers, such as British Gas, EDF Energy, E.on, Ovo, Scottish Power, and SSE, to assist households with energy efficiency measures, including Electric Storage Heaters, loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, solid wall insulation, and boiler replacement or repair. ECO4 is undergoing an upgrade and will be known as ECO4 in 2022.

LA Flex: The abbreviation LA Flex is “Local Authority Eligibility Flexibility.” This program is intended to assist homeowners who are not receiving any assistance and struggling to make ends meet. Companies approved by this plan can offer significantly discounted rates if you need to upgrade your house’s loft and cavity wall insulation. Here are some advantages to enjoy

• Your property will be considerably more environmentally friendly, aiding the local ecosystem.
• Finally, issues like humidity, mold, and draughts will be eradicated.
