Reflections on the Disability and Utilities Summit in London

Earlier this month, we joined disability equality charity Scope along with UK Power Networks at a landmark summit in London, a gathering designed to challenge the way the utilities sector supports disabled customers.

We attended as Consumer Rights CIC to shine a light on a crucial issue that’s often overlooked: the barriers disabled people still face when accessing government-backed energy schemes like ECO4 and the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS). These programmes exist to make homes warmer and more energy efficient, but too often, accessibility is treated as an afterthought rather than a foundation.

It was about creating lasting, systemic change, together.
