ECO4 is the fourth phase of the Energy Company Obligation, which requires larger energy suppliers to fund energy-efficiency improvements for low-income and vulnerable households. Here are the key dates, and what you can look at instead.
When Did ECO4 Start?
ECO4 applies to measures installed from 1 April 2022. The ECO4 Order, which set the scheme up, came into force in July 2022.
When Does ECO4 End?
Ofgem says ECO4 “will run until 31 December 2026, following a nine-month extension”. ECO4 Flex (LA Flex) is part of ECO4, so it ends on the same date. Consumer Rights can no longer help with ECO4 applications.
What About the Great British Insulation Scheme?
The Great British Insulation Scheme began in April 2023 and ended on 31 March 2026. It’s now closed to new installations.
Will There Be an ECO5?
No ECO5 has been announced. Be wary of anyone who claims to be taking “ECO5” applications or to know who will qualify.
