You take a company to small claims by making a claim through Money Claim
Online on GOV.UK — a process designed to be used without a
solicitor.
It’s usually a last resort, after you’ve complained in writing and tried any
relevant ombudsman.

The steps in brief

First, send a clear “letter before action” giving the company a deadline to
pay. If they don’t, start your claim online, pay the court fee (which depends
on the amount), and set out what you’re owed and why with your evidence. Many
cases settle once a claim is issued. The small claims track handles most
straightforward money disputes.
